Learning to touch-type is a life skill, and it is particularly integral for some children who struggle with being able to record their ideas efficiently and effectively on paper in a way that does justice to their verbal ability. It has the potential to influence the quality of what is written down but also the way in which it is organised. Once children have mastered this skill, it can without doubt enhance their confidence and self-belief and for some help them re-engage with academic work. Gaye is efficient and productive, alongside being very organised and knowledgeable about the process of learning to type. I would highly recommend her programme.

Efficient touch-typing is an invaluable skill for all students and absolutely essential for any pupil with a specific learning difficulty. Gaye Ruse has run courses for all our Year 7 pupils and worked with many others individually for the past 10 years. Gaye is highly experienced and understands how to motivate pupils and maximise their achievement within a short time-frame.

Gaye Ruse has worked with several pupils from The Hall.  They have gained a huge amount of confidence and have become proficient laptop users. The boys thoroughly enjoyed her lessons and have certainly acquired an invaluable life skill.

Mrs Ruse has worked most successfully in teaching girls - and staff - at Francis Holland. Her after-school touch typing classes provide a most valuable extra-curricular activity and our pupils thoroughly enjoy being taught by Mrs Ruse.

Many of the children and young people I assess struggle with literacy skills, especially handwriting. I recommend they see Gaye for touch typing and I have been very impressed by the results. The children develop in confidence and enjoy learning new skills. They quickly start to apply these skills to schoolwork and many then go on to use laptops at school for written work which can make a big difference to academic work as well as self esteem. I really recommend Gaye's methods

Gaye Ruse has been giving instruction to boys at St Anthony's for nearly 20 years. Although there are now many programmes for home tuition there is no substitute for the personal touch.
Anne Ashdown, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators, ST ANTHONY’S SCHOOL

I have recommended Mrs Ruse to a number of my pupils who struggle with their handwriting and for whom I believe using a laptop will improve their academic performance. Pupils are extremely positive about their experience with Mrs Ruse and say they enjoy learning with her. Pupils develop their skills rapidly and on completion of a week’s course with Mrs Ruse are confident in their touch typing. Many of the pupils go onto develop the skills learnt with Mrs Ruse in school by using their laptop in daily lessons. Parents also report they feel Mrs Ruse’s courses are very good value.
